They don't change anything they are currently doing or pay NMS for anything other than for a successful client or product sale.
The purpose of this was that it was a win/win for everyone involved. If NMS spent marketing money and produced no results, then the company we are contracted with loses nothing. On the flip side, if NMS succeeds with their marketing and sales campaigns, then the company we are contracted with now makes great money without any additional marketing dollars and NMS wins by being paid the percentage of the sale.
By structuring our approach this way, it created great success which in turn opened the door to those same companies wanting to know how we did it. They wanted to know our process, how we marketed, what the sales pitch was, etc.
